
Visit of the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to DEWATS & Karez Systems
Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, His Excellency Alfred Grannas the visited Decentralized Wastewater Treatment System (DEWATS) constructed by Balochistan Rural Support Programme with the financial assistance of GiZ under Sanitation 4 Million (S4M) Programme and technical assistance of BORDA. DEWATS treats up to 60 cubic meters of wastewater from toilets and recycles the water for irrigation purposes. First Secretary Economic and Political Section at German Embassy Islamabad Mr. Christian Bottcher, Principal Advisor GIZ- Mr. Filiberto Gabresi, Senior Technical Advisor GIZ- Mr. Hashim Khan, Technical Advisor GIZ- Rabia Baloch, Designated Honorary Consul of the Federal Republic of Germany in Quetta- Mir Murad Baloch, Vice Chancellor BUITEMS- Engr Farooq Bazai, Pro Vice-Chancellor BUITEMS- Zahid Rauf were present during the visit.
The dignitaries also visited Karez systems rehabilitated by BRSP with the financial assistance of GIZ in Pishin. The project has benefitted more than 26,592 people 20% of which are Afghan refugees. The local community members thanked His Excellency for visiting Pishin. The delegation also visited the District Headquarters Teaching Hospital Nushki, renovated and rehabilitated by BRSP with the financial assistance of the PATRIP Foundation. BRSP has constructed an emergency unit, residential quarters, and a mother-and-child health center within the hospital’s premises.
