

Ms. Jacqui Ketunuti—Deputy Country Representative of UN Women along with Ms. Ayesha Wadood—Head of UN Women sub-office visited BRSP. CEO BRSP- Dr. Shahnawaz Khan and General Manager Health Nutrition and Disability gave a detailed presentation of BRSP’s contribution to empowering women and demonstrating gender-sensitive and inclusive programme implementation. Ms. Jacqui was impressed and appreciated BRSP’s contribution and outreach in far-flung areas of Balochistan. It was also discussed that for lasting the impacts in communities, it is absolutely crucial to have long-term programs that are at least five years long. Providing sustained support to communities earns their trust in non-governmental organizations.
Balochistan Rural Support (BRSP) Programme with the financial
support of the German Embassy, is providing Technical, Vocational and Education
Training (TVET) to 2,188 students of madaris in districts Quetta and Pishin to
empower the unemployed youth of Balochistan for livelihood support. A toolkits
and certificate distribution ceremony was organised for TVET trainees. The
Chief Guest of the ceremony was MPA Mir Akhtar Hussain Langove, Chairman of the
Public Accounts Committee while CEO BRSP Dr. Shahnawaz Khan, Religious Scholar
Dr. Atta ur Rehman and Shabir Langove, District Education Officer Quetta also
participated in the ceremony.
Mr. Akhtar Hussain Langove, said that the world is focusing
on technical education instead of formal education to revive the economy. He
appreciated BRSP’s efforts to address the pervasive issue of youth unemployment
in Balochistan and mainstreaming youth in formal education through the Accelerated
Learning Pathway (ALP) curriculum.
