Project Briefing

Balochistan Rural Support Program (BRSP) with the financial support of UNICEF provided access to water and sanitation for community and children in districts Naseerabad and Quetta. The implementation strategy of the project will be focusing on the “Pakistan Approach to Total Sanitation” to upscale rural sanitation through strong mobilization strategies by BRSP’s social team and community resource persons. In addition, the project will create an ODF environment with basic and limited facilities and WASH facilities will be provided at community, schools, and health facility level as part of the incentives to trigger School Led Total Sanitation (SLTS) using the Three Star Approach (TSA).

Highlights of the achievements are as under:

  • Improved the WASH-related behaviors of 203,813 (55,091 women, 52,930 men, and 95,792 children) individuals in the targeted 40 revenue villages (220 sub-villages).
  • Estimated 203,813 (55,091 women, 52,930 men and 95,792 children) provided Open defecation Free environment.
  • 203,813 (55,091 women, 52,930 men, and 95,792 children) received critical WASH-related information to prevent childhood illness, especially diarrhea.
  • 9,000 (4,590 girls and 4,410 boys) provided access to safe water, sanitation and hygiene facilities in schools.
