Summary
Livelihood enhancement is still one of the main goals of BRSP’s poverty graduation programs. These programmes have helped poor communities become more productive, gain skills and assets, and improve their lives in the long run. BRSP has successfully implemented a variety of livelihood projects and programs, resulting in improved socioeconomic status for the rural populace through skill enhancement, expanded economic opportunities, and expanded market linkages throughout the province. BRSP’s livelihood programmes include the provision of Income Generating Grants (IGGs) and assets, the establishment of business development centres and short-term trainings for microbusiness establishments, cash grants to home based workers, enhancing youth employability through long term technical and vocational skills trainings, and increasing access to financial services. BRSP’s grassroots network of Community Institutions supplemented the GoB’s efforts to develop social capital, ultimately transforming communities into viable agents of sustainable rural development.
