--Balochistan Rural Support Programme Fights COVID-19
Ending Violence Against Women/ Girls Alliance – EVAWG and BRSP celebrated National Women’s day with the financial support of UNFPA in Quetta press club. The theme of the day was ” Gender Equality Today for a Sustainable Tomorrow”. Spokesperson to the Governor Balochistan – Majeed Achakzai, UN Women head of Office Quetta- Ms. Ayesha Wadood, Provincial Coordinator UNFPA- Ms. Anita Ahooja, Deputy Director Election Commission- Syed Ahsan Shah, Pro Vice Chancellor BUITEMS- Dr. Abdul Rehman, General Manager BRSP- Siraj ul Haque Ghouri, Chairman EVAW-G Alliance-Mr. Watanyar Khilji were the keynote speakers at the event.
“Civil Society Organisations act as a bridge between the people and the government and it’s important to mobilise government departments to see a tangible change . COVID-19 has been a shadow pandemic for women across the world and significantly put girls and women at risk for violence” remarked head of sub office UN Women, Ms. Ayesha Wadood while speaking on the occasion.
” Inclusiveness should expand to transgenders and Persons with Disabilities. We need to make small incremental changes in order to have a more inclusive society” said Provincial Coordinator UNFPA- Ms. Anita Ahooja on the occasion women’s day celebration.
