

Honourable Governor Balochistan- Syed Zahoor Agha inaugurated the construction of a Decentralized Wastewater Treatment System (DEWATS) at University of Balochistan. The purpose of DEWATS is to fit larger wastewater for plantation use in the campus as water scarcity is getting severe, and recycling wastewater is a necessity. The water crisis in Balochistan has been exacerbated in the last two decades and threatened every aspect of life. Balochistan is in a danger zone due to the high level of depletion of underground water. Keeping the water scarcity situation in view, Balochistan Rural Support Programme (BRSP) successfully constructed three units of DEWATS, two in government schools, one mega DEWATS unit in BUITEMS and now in University of Balochistan with the financial assistance of German Cooperation and GIZ. Vice Chancellor University of Balochistan- Dr. Shafiq ur Rehman, Senior Technical Advisor GIZ- Hashim Khan Khilji and Chief Executive Officer BRSP- Nadir Gul Barech were also present during the ceremony.
