Summary

BRSP, with the support of PPAF, implemented a renewable energy project in Union Council Raskoh of District Kharan to address the energy crisis in Balochistan, specifically in the off-grid village of Eri Kalag. This transformative project provided access to clean, reliable, and affordable electricity to 230 households, along with safe drinking water through the installation of two solar-powered tube wells. Households were equipped with solar panels, and the project included the installation of solar home systems (SHS), solar streetlights, and solar-powered drinking water systems. These interventions are significantly improving basic services, thereby enhancing the quality of life and fostering socio-economic development among the beneficiaries.

In addition to addressing energy and water needs, the project also contributed to local livelihood improvement by distributing date plants to villagers, encouraging sustainable agriculture and income generation. The initiative promoted renewable energy solutions while cultivating local ownership and participation in sustainable energy efforts, and strengthening community empowerment and resilience through the establishment of a proper operation and maintenance (O&M) mechanism.
