The EU Ambassador’s visit of district Khuzdar
Her Excellency Dr. Riina Kiona, Ambassador of the European Union in Pakistan met with the Deputy Commissioner Kalat Mr. Muneer Durrani. DC Kalat spoke about the devastation caused by recent floods & how people are unequipped for the upcoming harsh winter. Her Excellency also met with the women of Bright Women Network who turned a civil dispensary into a telehealth center and ensured attendance of teachers in a girls’ school.
EU-Pakistan relations goes back 60 years and we have a lot to do together. EU is often thought of as an economic block or development partner but in fact we have a strategic engagement plan. I was delighted to meet Governor Balochistan and we discussed different issues, we talked about climate change and the water situation in Balochistan. The devastating floods in Sindh and Balochistan were not only a calamity for Pakistan but for the whole world. The EU was among the first respondents on the ground in emergency assistance.

Floods, droughts and other climate-related calamities do not happen by chance but is a direct consequence of irresponsible consumption of natural resources. Pakistan has done an excellent job in climate change diplomacy and for the first time the Loss and Damage funds exist for any country that experiences climate-related catastrophe. it’s something Pakistan should be proud of. Balochistan is a priority in our current financial framework we have ongoing and future projects of €108 million for Balochistan. Remarked Her Excellency Dr. Riina Kionka Ambassador of the European Union to Islamic Republic of Pakistan
