Livelihood Enhancement & Protection (LEP) District Kharan

BRSP with the financial support of PPAF has implemented Livelihood Enhancement & Protection Project in 5 union councils (Sarawan, Joda-e-Kalat, Jamak, Tomulk & Raskoh) of District Kharan.

BRSP initially entered into an agreement with PPAF in July, 2012 for the span of two years July 2012 to June 2014 which was mutually extended for fifteen months. Hence total duration of the project was three years and three months starting from July 2012 to September 2015.

The project aimed to:

 To develop the capacity, opportunities, assets and productivity of community members to reduce their vulnerability to shocks, improve their livelihoods initiatives and strengthen their business operations.

Major Deliverables of the project included; Poverty Score Card (PSC) conduction, Livelihood Enhancement Plan Development (LIPs), Capacity building of the communities, Assets provisions and CIG formation.

During the project period of July 2012 to September 2015, achievements against the major deliverables of the project were;

· PSC conducted for 8,881 HH (65%) against the target 13,750 HH in 5 union Councils.

· Total 3,510 Livelihood Investment Plans including 946 for women and 123 for disables, were developed which is 166% against the target of 2,111 LIPs.

· 9,837 beneficiaries trained on skill, Enterprise Development, CIGs formation & Development and other trainings which is (100%) against the target 9,817 individuals.

· Asset provided to 2,111 Ultra/vulnerable beneficiaries (100%) against the target 2,111 beneficiaries.

· Common Interest Groups (CIG) formed 147 against the target of 125 CIGs
